Ask desk

The desk is a room in Westdene with a bench, a tape measure and a kettle. You are welcome to come and sit in it, but telephone first, because when the loop is being driven there is nobody there.

The desk

When somebody is at the desk

Monday to Thursday
08:30 to 16:30, with the loop usually driven between 09:30 and 11:30
Friday
08:30 to 13:00, long-run sessions only, booked in advance
Saturday and Sunday
Closed for calls; frost-window sessions at first light by arrangement

How to reach us

  • 01Telephone +27 51 430 92 68. If the loop is running, leave the car type and your number and the call is returned the same afternoon.
  • 02Come to 134 Zastron Street, Westdene, Bloemfontein 9301. There is parking on the street and the gate is the second one past the corner.
  • 03Use the form on this page. Questions with the kilometres and the current discomfort described get a proper answer rather than a holding note.

What happens to what you send

Measured car test notes written in Westdene, Bloemfontein, on one fixed loop through town, down the N1 and across 11 km of district gravel. Run by private individuals and paid for by readers.

Send a question to the ask desk

Tell us the type of car, roughly how many kilometres you drive in a year and what is uncomfortable now. That is enough for a useful first reply.
